A Lot Like Love is the debut single released by Diving At Dawn.
Diving At Dawn is a one man band comprising of Pete Hobbs, better known as the music-providing half of indie-pop duo The Boy Least Likely To.
Stepping back from the signature sound of The Boy Least Likely To, A Lot Like Love is a gentle acoustic clatter of chiming pianos and finger picked nylon guitars, set to a tape-delayed backbeat of floor toms and side sticks - cinematic and reflective, heartfelt and lonely. Think Sufjan Stevens without his orchestra, Bon Iver camping on Coombe Hill or Iron and Wine from the home counties.
Quietly composed in the wee small hours to avoid disturbing neighbours, pets and the authorities, the song is a hushed paean to the constant passing of time and love. It was recorded in the legendary Faraway Sound studios, with The Voluntary Butler Scheme's Rob Jones helping out at the controls.
Pete Hobbs grew up in Aylesbury but moved to London to seek his musical good fortune. He is influenced by Milan Kundera, Wings, Van Halen, Garth Merenghi and re runs of Rising Damp.
The single is released on download and limited edition 7" vinyl on Too Young To Die Records in July. The vinyl includes the exclusive track The Spinney.
